The Dye firm was founded in 1920 by Dewey A. Dye, Sr., known affectionately as “Colonel Dye,” who also served in the Florida State Senate. His office was located in the same building now occupied by the new firm, which is a historic building, completed in 1905. Mr. Dye’s son, Dewey A. Dye, Jr., joined his father’s firm, as did many other lawyers over the years. William T. Harrison’s son, George H. Harrison, began practicing in Bradenton at the Dye firm before starting his own law practice. Colonel Dye’s grandson, Stephen R. Dye, continues his practice with Dye Harrison.

The Porges law firm was founded in the 1950s by George H. Harrison and continued its operations until its dissolution in 2024. Timothy A. Knowles, a principal of the Porges firm, is a grandson of Gordon Brown “Gabby” Knowles, who began practicing law in Bradenton after graduating from the University of Florida Law School in 1916, and continued practicing locally until shortly before his death in 1962.

Greene Hamrick Schermer & Johnson, P.A. was first formed in 1996 as Hamrick, Perrey, Quinlan & Smith, P.A. In 2009 the firm merged with Greene & Schermer and became Greene Hamrick Perrey Quinlan & Schemer, P.A. After several retirements and the addition of new shareholders, the firm last changed its name to Greene Hamrick Schermer & Johnson, P.A. in 2020. The firm traditionally provided legal services in the areas or real estate, commercial development, Foreclosure, and Wills, Trusts, and Estates. In 2026, the remaining shareholders in the firm jointed Dye Harrison.
